What others have to say:
Shaykh Hamzah Yusuf
Sidi Abdus Shakur Brooks is one of the many up and coming Western students of Islam who have committed themselves to the true and time-tested approach that demands many years with teachers in a link back to the great sources of this religion. He has been for many years now a serious student of both Islamic jurisprudence and the requisite tools needed to understand the often abstruse language and scholastic tradition it has been transmitted through. His website has been an excellent source of sound Maliki tradition that adheres to the dominant positions within the school. We recognize the need for using the electronic media for those who do not have such access. We look forward to seeing more and more from our brother and fellow student on this path Sidi Abdus Shakur. Ustadh Abdus Shakur Brooks is one of the most impressive young teachers I've met. He is keen in his commitment to learning and teaching; firm in his adherence to the sunna; clear in his upholding of mainstream understanding and methodology; sharp in his knowledge; gentle, kind, and caring in his character. He has the attributes of a teacher one would benefit immensely from. I highly recommend studying with him--especially Maliki fiqh, which is clearly his passion. -Faraz Rabbani, Educational Director, SeekersGuidance (www.SeekersGuidance.org)
